A good day – just start, then run

simple right?….just go for a run…that’s all it takes……JUST RUN

Yesterday was one of those days…….

maybe I had a too large a breakfast, the coffee tasted too good, at some point I decided to not run….slept in, relaxed, was too tired, didn’t feel like it….was not going to run…..and then…….

I just went…I was bored, I had nothing to really do…so just drove to my fave starting spot…still not feeling a lot of energy, and was thinking, maybe a walk?…..

All it took was for me to get out of my car, step on the trail, and started moving….

sure..one thing that is always guaranteed to get me going is to see others being active….as I looked a round, one young lady on roller blades, another running with a dog, lots of others walking, someone sitting at a park bench……and yeah the start at my favorite paved path….and beautiful right?…lots of fall colours, lots of leaves on the trails…..it’s just as joy to be outside…and others being active, just make you wanna move and be active too….and you know you’re not alone…

and that was it….as I went along, I began thinking maybe a 5K…then, well, let’s explore!

I went out on some familiar trails and paths, took a few turns I hadn’t taken for a while……and yep, quickly forgot that I was running….

That’s the way this works best…….somedays, all it takes is, starting…

just starting…inspiring yourself to move

when I talk about running, and enjoying running…or being active….this is that..just enjoying it, just runnng to run…like Forest Gump, ‘i just wanted to run’ or ‘i just like to run.’

there’s that nice rhythm of the run, there’s the easy turn over of that stride, and as the run continues, and as you continue, you forget that you’re running….just, an afternoon outside…..everything always feels better than sitting inside…even worse, sitting inside or running inside on a treatmill…….just get outside….you should never have to say, ‘I’ve gotta go for 5K on the treadmill’ … better, ‘I’m going outside for a run.’

whenever I instruct a clinic, or talk to someone just starting, or has begun and is struggling, I always say the same thing, is to get to a point where you want to run, not have to run……the problem with anything you HAVE to do…..at some point you decide, you’d rather do something you want to do, usually something else…..

GET OUTSIDE….

I know, I know…some are in places where that’s always an option…..or the season..

I run year round….and honestly, winter is perfect……you mearly dress for the weather, and just go…make sure the traction is good, know that as you run, you’ll warm up……and life is amazing….the best moment ever is to run past a building, with someone on a treadmill, indoors, watching you run by…..them bored, you, HAVING FUN

tomorrow morning, my morning before the day begins will be with a short 5K run….I’ve a clinic to instruct after, an afternoon selling shoes and running gear, and then a short bike ride back home……sounds like a good day right…so, have a good active weekend…..enjoy life, enjoy, being outside
