A Good Run is sometimes is all it takes

Today was one of those days…

felt a little worn down, had no real desire to get outside and run, with a ton of chores that needed to be done….which was what may have got me out the door???…running seemed like more fun…..

so figured I’d get dressed, hop into the car, go somewhere, and see what happens next….

I have a few go-to spots, but this morning for some reason I wanted something new-ish and turned into Emily Murphy Park…and I immediately saw a group on bikes riding the hill which looked so cool…and yeah, felt like the right place to be……I also liked that there were washroom facilities in that picinic site….

inspiring...

I had my bright white Brooks Adrenaline 21s on my feetz, not trail shoes, but most of today’s run was on Edmonton river valley trails..a great shoe!……….

I’m a pronator (this picture actually shoes that right?) so maybe not the exact right shoe for me…but the guide rails in this shoe just always make be feel just right…my stride is spot on (though for some reason I was dragging my feet at a few points) ……..and yeah, they’re still pretty and white even after about 100Ks…

I guess I was not really like mountain paths, but off road, not much pavement…but I have done this before…I seem to remember races like Death Race or Sinister 7 in my Brooks Ghosts with no real problems…..

Canadian Death Race 2008?…..

For some reason it took me a while to get my legs moving smoothly, but I started out following 3 really loud female runners…I knew I was getting too close whenever I started to hear them way too clearly….but their speed brought my legs up to snuff…..and then all felt alright…what a fantastic morning…..and yeah, I still don’t feel strong enoughconfident enough – to run with anyone else, so a distant connection felt okay….

There were stairs…and a few hills…but all felt so good…

And turned into an almost a 7K run…that at one point was not going to happen…and the pace was fine…..it took me 10 minutes afterwards to turn the Garmin off, so my average pace was way off, but

The lesson here…..you never know…..maybe the head isn’t engaged, but, you just have to begin..take that first step……a go somewhere that inspires…

Today was just about seeing others outside doing what I love doing, once that happened…my head said, this is where I needed to be, should be……..all was right with the world…

I had an original goal is to run 7 days in a row this week, to kick the concussion in the head?……this was day 3…..I do have plans for tomorrow….Friday/Saturday have some issues due to time issues, , a day like today tells me……well, why not?…I was tired, but all good…and it turned out, one of my co-workers was riding those hills….so even cooler!
