It’s Getting Better All the Time

So the journey continues…..

Today was short, but a better pace…maybe because it was shorter?…but going the right direction to a 1:51 half marathon in May?

Which was weird…because, OMG on ice/freezing rain…..

Maybe it was the traction, maybe…I haven’t worn traction aids for a while, but they sure helped, on the ice, and maybe with the pace…….my heart rate didn’t spike, but it felt good…I found a small pice of off road, there was ice, but the traction held.

Actually the traction aids were kind of a revelation, I saw the ice on the roads and the sidewalks, everywhere….and kind of thought, NOPE!…but there’s this trying to run something every day until Sunday, a friend is matching me, there’s that commitment…..and surprise, it well.

Tomorrow….hopefully the weatherman is wrong….he’s calling for more freezing rain…..

That’s weather will dictate what’ll happen……I’m hopping for distance, but ice may derail that….but, well, 5 runs, 5 days…..kind of cool….and I’ve gotta think of Christmas shopping…

I keep thinking and reading and listening, about, well me……I ain’t getting any younger, and everything I read tells me that, well…..my future is all about just managing to keep running…….it’s like a defeat without a war…….I know there’s a lot of research, not sure if those writing those books have done it. It’s sort of like women and running, there isn’t a lot of research….hopefully like female athletes there’ll be more and more……what there is on men, has been proven not to be gospel for women; nutrition, and pretty much everything is different, so why wouldn’t the same be when coming up with what’ll work for us old folks?

I know I need to pay attention to recovery and rest and let this damaged head get well…..that’s the main current goal.

Nutrition. yeah, I’ve gotta cut out the crap, more water, hydration, fruit and veggies, less or no pizza and McDonald’s………coffee?……..I need to find an alternative, I’ve gotta keep Starbucks in business………

I have to sleep……stay awake and active….I also see a lot of foam rolling, yoga, swimming, biking, so I guess, let the journaling begin?
