79 days to the BMO Vancouver…yikes

So, yeah, I went and run today………finally….after Monday’s 10K it took a while to get back at it….

I did manage some time on the bike trainer on Tuesday and Wednesday, which was good, some cross training, some foam rolling, a lot of planks……..and then today…OMG, so much ice…..

I’d hoped that by 10 the ice would have softened up enough to give me some traction, and it wasn’t really that bad….it did affect my speed…..the Saucony Peregrine Ice + helped, but really, on smooth hard ice, they’re like snow tires on black ice, kind of helped, but not completely

my pace felt good…at one point I was going at 5:05 a kilometer, love knowing that, but it felt so good to get outside and to run for that 7.5K……my average was quicker than the distance, so a good progression.

There are some things I love seeing on our trails, this is one of them….I have no idea who the memorial is for, but seeing the fresh cut flowers is heartwarming…….

Is Vancouver, a Half Marathon doable…..I have to keep the progression more consistant…as long as I keep moving ahead, I should be fine…..the big thing with me will be recovery…eating well, sleeping, lots of H2O, and cross training…I’m not sure my body can take more than 4 days of high impact……..so swimming, spinning, and I’ve gotta start hitting the weight room……so back to pumping iron…..or at least body weight stuff…..

My new job as looking after a Run Club at a local club has me kind of pumped and excited…and yeah, two more days/times I’ll have to walk each week..and something new to inspire me…

Yesterday I did have a bit of a melt down….don’t think it was over training, more frustration…..I have to keep reminding myself to get outside every day at some point…..even spinning doesn’t do what fresh air and an effort does….today was a good example…..just a 1 hour run, fun….exploring, taking chances, playing on the ice and in puddles, looking for routes with less ice (I didn’t find any)

I’ve got to get with a group….I’m still struggling with those headaches, I’ll have to watch, and learn what causes and if somethings relive the pain (a physio friend says she has an answer)…and see how my body reacts as I increase distances……the final goal is a full marathon before the end of the year……so one step at a time…

Tomorrow my virtual clinic, I’m talking nutrition…..I’ve 5 pages of notes so far…this should be interesting…a short run outside, and may do a few minutes on the bike…..and Sunday, another 10K
