A Hard run that was fun?

Another morning that began with me not wanting run, and well, 13K later…..

I knew I needed to get a run done, I left the house with two starting points in mind, and picked one…

A location I have not run from since before COVID…..Whitemud Park/Fox Drive….

It’s an area I used to run in and around a lot…..along the river, lots of ravines…

I wasn’t really in the mood or feeling like hills and stairs were my thing this morning, but well….the route I took

The start was flat…off road, I just worked on keeping an easy pace, and enoying the view

and, well, a bridge and then stairs………..

Wolf Willow stairs…..I could have stuck around and run repeats, but once was enough……

Then I just carried on into waht we used to just called the Ravines…I’d forgotten that also meant hills….

so, so far, one set of stairs, two hills through a couple of ravines, and yes finally, down a hill

Then why not take the paved trail back to the start…oh yeah, a few more climbs

another set of stairs…….

And then 11K, you;d think done….

I got back my car, was taking my gear off, was getting ready to drive home..and, well, there was another set of stairs, I needed two more Ks….so why not?

the view was so worth it….and a quick loop through yet another trail through the woods…there was a sign that warned about coyotes…unfortunately I didn’t get to see any…..but a good way to finish, but oh boy was I finished…yikes and great..

I covered a lot of ground, for a morning that I thought….nah, not gonna…

13K, the pace wasn’t great, but I’m going to say that had a lot to do with hills, stairs….and well drove home and pretty much collapsed…..since about 13:30……..I thought this old guy was going to faint at some point….but, hydrate, eat….

I’ve a feeling tomorrow maybe a day to get the bike out and about……more exercise, endurance, but maybe not high impact….
