today I ran…….a good day, and during the run (and honestly) I thought about dieting?
I know, I know, a lot of people run to get down to some ideal weight…..but I
I’ve seen and have run with others, of every body shape, and with a lot that were using running to maintain that weight, or to get to it, and honestly, lots of runners, pretty much everyone I’ve run with…sure, more muscle, stronger, healthier, maybe fitter…..but, the body shape is the body shape……the distribution of fat and muscles, genetics, won’t change…..
Diets……I do eat healthy, sometimes, I try to stick to veggies, fruit, water….but, it’s Christmas, it’s hard to stay the course, and feel good…..sometimes a coke and a snickers bar is the best medicine……sometimes that rush of sugar and caffeine is a vital ingredient…..not always, not constant, but sometimes, well, you’ve just gotta cheat…
are diets a waste of time….I’m not going to say that.
for some people, that right diet has worked wonders…..Weight Watchers have a taught a lot about portions, and how to structure meals…others guide and yeah, have worked, so my quibble isn’t with the product, but too many of them a built to fail, with impossible to follow forever rules…and way too many offer fictional rewards. Most cut out this and that, some carbs (seriously we need carbs to do what we do) cut out protein, um, no……even fat?….yeah…….
And honestly (yes that word again) we know what’s right and what’s wrong…what we should chow on, and what we should avoid…….yeah, making that right turn in to the McDonald’s drive thru is wrong, driving down the road to a farmer’s market, better…….it’s not rocket science, but we also need to eat, consume…and you know what enjoy doing it……
we don’t eat nutrients, we eat food….food’s to be shared, there was genius to the sit down family dinner….with desert!
Anyway, on today’s run, well, as always, I just think…and yeah, it was just a run….
