65 years 63 days….and winter is back

So today, this weekend, and the week to come…..winter is back.

I managed a short run yesterday, which was okay.

Today’s run, well, didn’t happen, my parents needed me..and well, an ongoing theme, so no run, no time to train…watching TV, and looking back at personal history….and hoping the week to come is amazing…

My time tomorrow is booked…an early run (this is all in Celsius, so do the math, I’ve gotta run at 8:30….it supposed to be -25C with the wind chill, it should feel like -35C..OMG!..I’m going to make the attempt…I really need at least 8 to 10K….it’s not like I can do that on Tuesday, it’s gotta be 10K…so will give it a shot…three layers on top, maybe 2 on the bottom…..hand warmers, lots of head covering, which makes running harder….but, I know others are doing it, there are marathons in the Arctic, and in the Antarctic….this week its the Iditarod in Alaska/the Yukon…..so people do amazing stuff when it’s this cold..so I’ll give it an early shot

I’ve gotta make that trip to visit the parents, help with groceries and get them ready for the big move to the nursing home….it seems like they’re set……..so will have to work my training around them and the rest of this month…be the good son.

No matter what, I’m still going to Vancouver on May 3rd…the half marathon, I’ll do it..it just won’t be super pretty….but, I’ve run half marathons before with training runs any longer than 10K…..I know what I’m in for……and I do have a plan for everyone of the next 62 days….so a menu, follow it as closely as I can and I will be fine…and my final long training run will be on May 5th.

at least it’s not supposed to snow anymore..it’s too cold to run?
