I Need a Goal?

Life is confusing……I’m planning my weekend and my week ahead….and it’s rough….no focus really, no end goal, no direction…..still don’t where I’m going.

I know, a marathon in Victoria in October would be good…have been there before, so why not?

I love the course, the event is well run…it’s close to sea level so an easy run

but I’m not a huge fan of Victoria….a pain in the butt to get to, the airport to downtown Victoria….and it’s a weird city……spread out, so a visit means a lot of needless walking…..but, if I know a group of us are going and it becomes a social thing…may be …

It’s been so long since I’ve run 26.2 miles…so a half before then would be good, so Edmonton at the end of August and then decide?

Sounds like a plan…

Now I need to train….

The one thing about me, training for me has to be relaxed and fun…or at least enjoyable…

I know I coach others, but, coaching myself doesn’t work……

I know the drill, know what I need to do, can do….now, between then and now?

I keep thinking, train for a full, run a half on August 20th?

Do I cross train? Do I train like I’m almost to 65, or like I’m 40 again?

I’ve a 13K run tomorrow morning….that’s as far ahead as I can figure out m life…I don’t even know where I want to start from….do I want easy and uncomfortable socially..or just on my own and enjoy the view….I think I will decide on which door in the morning…

It seems like I’m out here on my own…….I know, there are groups I could run with, but I don’t really fit in with any of them….

There is a group here I could run with, but, they’re all more hard core and well quicker than this old man, so I’d end up running on my own anyway….

I do need to strength train as well…so do I do that tomorrow?…Or just leave the strength training until next fall?

I do like early, so why not?….

I do need to get back into the gym and that run crew at the Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club…a great gym, and for strength training, why not?…..I’ll see….do I still fit in?

Working with our Running Room Events Team, which starting next month seems like it’ll be my life on a lot of the weekends, so after tomorrow, I’ll probably not be able to run with anyone on Sundays anyway….my long runs will be on my own…

Today was okay for a rest day…a lot of yard work….getting everything ready for spring and summer….plant some grass, some veggies…..felt good. some heavy lifting, but good…

Oh yeah, and chopping on roots with an axe, so strength training…

It’s about 113 days to the Edmonton Half Marathon

then 162 days to Victoria……

on to tomorrow…..
